In focus: turning climate learning into action

Across UWC schools, climate learning is embedded in daily life and academic study. Students test renewable energy systems, restore habitats and rethink food practices. The aim is not only to understand environmental challenges, but to equip young people with the confidence and tools to respond.

Alumni shaping climate justice 

UWC alumni are also shaping climate conversations beyond school. A landmark advisory opinion issued by the International Court of Justice in July 2025 set out that states have legal responsibilities for climate harm. The ruling followed years of youth-led advocacy, with UWC alumni working alongside Pacific communities and global partners to bring lived climate realities into international law.
